Bios:
Dr. Tee Stock has practiced OT since 1998, specializing in school and private practice. She received her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Tufts in 1998 and her Doctorate in OT from Quinnipiac in 2017. Dr. Stock has presented on transition planning and the role to multiple stakeholders including at three AOTA conferences and four state conferences. She has worked in both public and private schools and has her own OT business which she developed by starting small. Dr. Stock conducted a study on the effectiveness of an educational program addressing transition planning and OTP roles during her doctoral work. Dr. Stock is co-chair of the MAOT Pediatric Practice and Transition Planning Special Interest Group and is a member of MAOT and AOTA.
Dr. Susan Krikorian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and Communications from Worcester State University in 1996. She received a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University in May of 2017. Dr. Krikorian has over 18 years of occupational therapy experience in private and public-school systems, early intervention, and private sensory-based clinics. Dr. Krikorian received a Superintendent’s Outstanding Achievement Recognition award in the 2013-2014 school year for her efforts in writing a grant and receiving funding for sensory tools and equipment. Dr. Krikorian facilitates Level I and Level II Fieldwork programming for OT and OTA students in the public schools. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Massachusetts Teacher Association, is the MAOT Special Interest Group (SIG) Coordinator, and Pediatric Practice and Transition Planning SIG Co-chair.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the potential role of occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) in preparing students for a successful transition to adult life.
2. Discuss and share Postsecondary Transition Planning (PSTP) experiences as a school-based occupational therapy practitioner
3. Know what potential assessments support PSTP
4. Describe examples of interventions
5. Explore case examples of the PSTP approach
We will also discuss future topics and ideas
Cost: Free for MAOT members. Non-members $10.00. $5.00 for students and practitioners from other state associations.
